This is such a cool game! It has some really great and expansive world building. And it really makes you feel like a dark lord, making those decisions and seeing them actually affect the whole world, combined with random events that just happen and require you to improvise makes this game feel very immersive! Great job!
It reminded me of a game I used to play as a kid. I loved that a unified style was maintained. My recommendations go out to all text-based strategy lovers

“Dominion of Darkness” is a masterclass in the art of text-based strategy gaming. You don’t just play as a dark lord, you become one. Every decision feels weighty, deliberate, and deliciously malevolent. The game perfectly captures that feeling of commanding vast armies, whispering deceit into the ears of nobles, and watching entire nations crumble under your cunning. What stands out most is how alive the world feels despite being rendered entirely through text. Each choice branches into new possibilities, alliances can become betrayals, power can corrupt even your most loyal servants, and small victories can spiral into vast empires or catastrophic ruin. No two playthroughs are ever the same; each run feels like an alternate history of your rise (or fall) to ultimate dominion.
The writing is sharp, evocative, and layered with the kind of dark grandeur you’d expect from Tolkien’s shadowy corners or classic fantasy epics. The attention to detail in the politics, espionage, and occult rituals makes you feel like you’re managing not just an army, but a philosophy of darkness. And yes, there are even whispers of romance, fitting for a lord who bends the world and hearts alike to his will, but the focus remains squarely on strategy, manipulation, and power. If “Malefactor” was the spark, “Dominion of Darkness” is the inferno. This is the full realization of that concept: deeper systems, more choices, more intrigue, and far more ways to win-or lose-your soul. In short: if you love narrative-driven games, strategy, and the thrill of shaping destiny through words alone, this is an unmissable experience.
I liked it a lot. My water tyrant queen was gathering orc soldiers and building up her army before I felt victim to my treasure hunting. I must have triggered 40 completely different events in my 30 mins of playing.
I would love some icons to simplify the information that is always present. Things like influence or soldier numbers can be visualised in easier ways.
Very cool idea, love the MUD style simulation with a pretty neat dynamic story line of fixed characters that can change dynamically. Recruiting or protecting certain characters/heroes can have significant outcome on the ending.
Would be awesome if more of the generic “recruit” or “gain influence” decisions had more branching routes and optional choices to potentially increase their rewards or influence their outcomes.
At first I felt like it wasn't really my type of game, but after about 10 minutes in I was genuinely curious as to what would happen next. I died a couple of times but towards the end it really played to my power fantasy. I am about to do another play through, very curious as to how else the story may end. It reminds me of an old MUD I used to play: Darkness Falls.
This game appears to be a compelling and richly detailed strategy text experience. I am particularly interested in the depth of gameplay options—building armies, engaging in intrigue, establishing secret networks, and manipulating various factions—all of which promise a highly replayable experience. The inclusion of potential romances, while not central, adds an intriguing layer of complexity. I look forward to exploring the different decision paths and outcomes.
Usually this type of game isn't my thing but this is pretty interesting. It must have taken a long time to put together all routes.
However my only issue with it is that it uses ai generated art and I don't support Gen ai. I didn't see the game page mentioning the use of it so transparency on the matter would be great!
Other than that, super cool. I also like the fact that you play the villain.
This is a pretty cool game, i like story based games, i think it's a good option to spend time, the multiple option system and the story changing by everything yo do it's something i really like; I wasnt expecting to find a text based game, but i think they can still be good games now, more for those who enjoys reading and following a story
Ohh, I love this kind of game. Great setting and some interesting mechanics. Haven't played through it yet, but I like what I have seen so far. Very cool vibes
